St. Mary's Under 5's is a committee run preschool; it is also a registered charity (Registration Number 1028924).  It was set up over 30 years ago, originally in St. Mary's Church hall, moving to the Cricket Pavilion about 25 years ago, and we moved into our own purpose built building in November 2010.

We are a highly qualified setting with all key people obtaining a level 3 or above qualifications in childcare. 

​

Every child will be allocated a Key Person prior to their start with an opportunity to meet with staff to discuss your child's individual needs.  The Preschool have an Open Day in June whereby families on our waiting list are invited to view our setting and ask any questions they may have.

The setting uses Development Matters as a guidance to help meet the requirements of the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage.  The framework sets out the the three prime areas of learning that underpin everything in the early years:-

​

• communication and language

• physical development

• personal, social and emotional development

​

The four specific areas help children to strengthen and apply the prime areas:-

• literacy

• mathematics

• understanding the world

• expressive arts and design

​

We support learning through play with appropriate resources to meet the children's learning and development stages with encouragement to explore both the indoor and outdoor environment.  The child's keyperson will arrange consultations with parents to discuss their child's progress.

As a charity non-profit preschool we relay on contributions and support from our families and would encourage participation in any of our fundraising activities.

• Continue to be an integral part in our community by offering places to our local children

• Always respect our children's beliefs and will at all times encourage them to their full potential
